Day 15

Kirsten Harris 100 Artworks for 100 days at £100 each

SOLD

Sheep Light
15 x 40 cms
Oil on Camvas

The colours look a bit washed out on this photograph, the reds are redder the ochres more ochrey. Because the paint is thick the camera doesn't seem to want to give me a totally focussed good colour image. Again another view from my studio. Was up mega early again today as I am off to Blair Horse Trials this afternoon in the glorious Perthshire countryside with a friend, my dog and my camera.

SOLD

The Good Friend
Oil on Canvas
16 x 40cms

6 pm: This is a small prety paintng, with a good feeling between the two horses. I have been sitting outside most of the day, playing with paint. This little painting reflects the yellow colours of today. The golden light, the calmness, lots of Rose Bay Willow Herb around at the moment, so lots of pinks in the paint today, though not in this painting. .Although considered a weed it really does look spectacular when it lines half a mile of road. Have spoiled lots of canvases today.

(9am: I had an unexpected overnight stay in hospital on monday night, so though I did a small pencil sketch of the lady opposite me, I don't think it is appropriate for me to put it up on my blog. It is a beautiful day today and so I am going to sit outside and paint the landscape that surrounds me and put one up for day 11 instead of the portrait.  Don't worry I am fine! Really deligthed to be home and looking forward to a good days painting and chilling out in the fresh air. Lots of interesting clouds today and sunshine and no wind. Perfect.)

I really enjoyed this painting. I spent last night going through photographs of old paintings for my new website which felt really useful to do at the start of this project. My new website will have a back catalogue.  It will be cool to see a lot of the last ten years work in the same place for the first time.

Day 5

Kirsten Harris 100 Artworks for 100 days at £100 each

SOLD

The Round Pen 3
Oil on Canvas
20 x 26cms

Decided to get up early this morning, 5 am, and see if I could have a painting complete by 9 am, as yesterdays painting took me all day.  It is 8.59. The past few days I have been frustrated by the state of my paintbrushes - I am the great ruiner of brushes and lover of buying new art materials. So I am off to the art shop today! Hooray. Anyone with lonely, unused paint brushes sitting on your shelf do feel free to mail to me and let me ruin!!
It is a strange experience to do a painting, declare it finished and post it without having a chance to go back to it, make revisions, think about it etc.
This painting is more golden in colour than it looks on screen.

Day 4

Kirsten Harris 100 Artworks in 100 days for £100 each

The Round Pen 2
Oil on Canvas
20 x 60 cms

I have been working on this painting since dawn this morning and am giving up now at 7pm. I thought it would be a relatively easy image to achieve, but the perspective is weird so it took ages to work it out. . Hopefully it gives the feel of 3 horses cantering in a round pen.
Day 4, only 96 to go - crikey! I must  be mad...

Day Zero

KIRSTEN HARRIS 100 ARTWORKS IN 100 DAYS FOR £100 EACH

I have taken the challenge to do one hundred paintings in 100 days selling for £100 each.
The discipline of doing this marathon will test me as an artist - finding inspiration, images, ideas and creativity for 100 days in a row feels both daunting and inspiring.
For buyers it will be a chance to invest in original artwork far below its usual selling price.
Paintings will be sold on a first come first served basis. Postage and packaging is additional or collect in person and meet the artist. Works on canvas can be hung unframed or framed by the buyer, works on paper will need to be mounted and framed.
The finishing date for the project is Sunday 5th December 2010.
I will paint and post a new painting everyday,(technology willing) starting Saturday 14th August.
I am feeling nervous but excited at the start of this challenge.
My subject matter will range from equestrian and animal subjects to landscapes and seascapes and where ever my inspiration takes me.
Please feel free to comment on the blog over the next 100 days.
Paintings will be for sale as the 100 day project proceeds, please contact me at kirstenfharris@btopenworld.com
I should have a brand new website by September 1st 2010
